Butterick Big Vintage Sewalong

Sewalongs are great fun. I love the sense of community that comes from taking part in one, so was really delighted when The Fold Line invited me to join the Butterick Big Vintage Sewalong. I won't be posting my finished garment until the 15th July, although I've actually already made and worn it.

Each blogger in the Sewalong is choosing from a selection of reproduction and vintage-inspired patterns from Butterick and McCalls. You can see the full list on the dedicated sewalong website, and follow along with the hashtag #bvsewalong. The sewalong is raising funds for the Eve Appeal, the only cancer research charity that focuses on improving detection and prevention of the five gynecological cancers. The blog tour goes on until the end of September, and do have a look to find out how to join in here.

So, what am I making?

Butterick 5748, a classic early 60s style dress.I found some lovely fabric and am really excited to share it with you soon.

There are lots of great bloggers involved in the Sewalong and but there are so many creative and inspiring items, I hope mine can stand amongst them! Some have already posted their makes - below are links to everyone taking part and to all the garments finished so far, below. I've highlighted a couple of my favourite makes too:
I loved how Portia took this in her own direction with denim
I love the neckline of this and the bold, modern fabric
