So what am I pledging to sew this year?
First up, I want to complete this amazing but detailed Toddler Quiet Book pattern. I started it last year and managed two pages. Miss Kestrel does seem to like them but they do seem to end up getting lost at the bottom of her toy storage, and I think making the whole book would be a lovely thing.
The pattern is perfect for using up scraps of fabric too, which is always a useful thing.
Next up, I want to finish the denim skirt I've cut out from this pattern, Butterick 5244:

I can never have enough denim skirts so this will be super-useful.
I want to sew a wedding guest dress as I'm attending two weddings in April. I have the fabric in stash already, some Michael Miller Ahoy Matey, rigging print fabric that I bought for way too much money when I was pregnant. I fell in love with Roisin's dress made in this fabric and could only find enough yardage in the U.S., which then incurred a customs charge on top. Needless to say, it will be great to actually use this fabric! I haven't decided on the pattern yet, but it will be vintage.
Those three items are kind of 'finishing what I started', from making part of a pattern to cutting out a pattern and buying fabric for a dress I didn't get around to making. Apart from that, I intend to make another two items using vintage patterns.
So here's my pledge;
"In 2016, I, Kerry of Kestrel Makes, pledge to complete 2 vintage sewing projects I've already started, make a wedding guest dress and sew 2 further items from vintage patterns."
Have you been tempted into joining us for vintage pledge this year?

That zoo book is so cute. I'm excited this challenge is back again. I think I'm just going to sign up for a certain number of makes but I have lots of vintage plans formulating in my head.
ReplyDeleteOoo I like the Butterick pattern. It's very similar to the Victory patterns skirt.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love the zoo book pages. They are so cute. Looking forward to seeing all your makes.
